Fidelis Golfers Finish Lucky 13th

On the 24th September 2020 Fidelis was delighted to take part in the first ever Snow Camp charity golf day at Bush Hill Park Golf Club in North London.

Snow Camp is a charity very much at our hearts, and Fidelis Co-Founder Guy Bartlett is a regular contributor to their many events and initiatives, all aimed at raising money to fund their essential endeavours in supporting young people.

Their mission of “Working to give young people from inner-city communities across the UK positive futures through snowsports” is focused on engaging young people to provide life-skills training and mental health support, while enabling them to gain qualifications and employment in the snowsports industry and beyond.

Snow Camp’s mental health work has become more important than ever during the pandemic, due to the stress and anxiety caused by job losses, loneliness, and relationship breakdowns. Thanks to the donations they have received, they can now provide more young people with vital mental health support and training over the next few months.

So, on this beautiful sunny Thursday, 19 teams were competing to win the Gregor Michie Memorial Trophy. Gregor was Snow Camp’s Treasurer for many years, a keen golfer and friend who passed away in November 2018 after a long and brave battle with cancer. Due to COVID restrictions, the competing couldn’t congregate at any one point so, the Founder and Director Dan Charlish joined Patron Jenny Jones at the first tee and thanked and greeted every team as they began their round. He also borrowed a buggy from the Club and spent time with teams as they made their way through the 18 holes.

We didn’t have a very imaginative team name (unlike Grip It and Sip It, I Like Big Putts and I Cannot Lie and Talk Birdie To Me!) but we were proud to finish 13th and feel lucky and honoured to have been part of such an amazing event. Huge congratulations to the winners Chamonix Veterans, but mostly to Snow Camp for the immensely valuable work they do, and for hosting such a wonderful day. This event alone raised an impressive £15,000 for the charity.
